The government of India is set to make India free of plastics by 2022. The draft was issued in March 2021 for the same and last week government has decided after considering the views of stakeholders. A notification has been issued explaining the ban on single-use plastics in a staggered manner. A staggered manner is chosen to give all the businesses sufficient time to divert into replacements.
